United Nations Days & Years Meditation Initiative
2009 International Year of Natural Fibres
Meditation Outline
Individuals and groups can help to make the International Year of Natural Fibres more effective through meditation and prayer. Here you will find a sample meditation outline, but you may prefer to create your own meditation outline.Click here for information on the Year and suggestions on how to participate in this Initiative.
Sit comfortably, alert and with the spine erect. Breathe quietly and regularly. Raise your consciousness to the centre between the eyebrows and without strain hold this focus.
- Say aloud:
May the Power of the one Life pour through the group of all true servers
May the Love of the one Soul characterise the lives of all who seek to aid the Great Ones
May I/we fulfil my/our part in the one Work through self-forgetfulness, harmlessness, and right speech.Use the creative imagination to link in thought with those around the world who are thinking deeply about the fibres gifted by plants and animals: cotton, wool, flax, hemp, silk. Think of scientists and farmers, weavers and artisans, designers and those who love natural, organic fabrics.
-
Let the circle of your thoughts expand to include all true servers in the world - all who are thinking and seeking to live with a measure of love, understanding, wisdom and will in response to the challenges and opportunities of our time.
-
Now imagine this circle of your thinking expand again to embrace all people of goodwill in all parts of the world. Sit with this wide circle of goodwill energy … be open to the incredible diversity of the human expression of goodwill. It is a substantial, living, pulsing field of activity on the planet … a net of light and love with a presence in every community on the planet.
- Pause for a moment of alert stillness.
- Now widen the circle of your imagination again to embrace the Great Ones of the inner worlds: the Christ and the Buddhas, the Saints, Rishis and Immortals of all traditions :
Imagine the meditating group at the centre of an even-armed cross ... radiating purpose, light and love to all in the human family, as well as to the mineral, plant and animal kingdoms ... calling on the Great Ones that Their Blessings, Their Guidance and Their Wisdom may flow into and through every initiative at reconciliation throughout this year and beyond.
- Pause for a moment of alert stillness.
-
Ponder the role of natural fibres in the relations between human, plant and animal. Consider the plants (flax, coconut, cotton, hemp, jute, bamboo) and animals (sheep, goats, silk worms, rabbits, camels), holding them in the light. Think too of the farmers, weavers and spinners who produce, process and work with these fibres, holding them in the light.
Pause for a moment of alert stillness.
-
Now consider the events to be held this year to celebrate Natural Fibres. May these events contribute to the health and well-being of the plants and animals themselves as well as the farmers and weavers whose livelihoods depend on them. May the fair trade of natural fibres play its part in the creation of sustainable communities, societies and economies.
Close by using the Great Invocation or an affirmation of your choice.
From the point of Light within the Mind of God
Let light stream forth into human minds.
Let Light descend on Earth. From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into human hearts.
May the Coming One return to Earth. From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide all little human wills
The purpose which the Masters know and serve. From the centre which we call the human race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out.
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth
